\u201cLet us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

for He who promised is faithful.\u201d \u2013 Hebrews 10:23<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em>
\nDuring the recent Centennial Commemoration of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, The<\/em> Pathway to Hope<\/em>was dedicated and unveiled.\u00a0 The Pathway to Hope acknowledges the history of Black Wall Street while also seeking to connect Greenwood and other historical sites, particularly John Hope Franklin Reconciliation Park.\u00a0 This pathway was created and designed\u00a0\u00a0 with the purposeful intent of highlighting the accomplishments of the founders of Black Wall Street and to instill the same spirit and hope in future generations.
\nMany years prior to 1921, abolitionist and activist Harriet Tubman escaped slavery and subsequently made some thirteen missions on the underground railroad to free and rescue others.\u00a0 The underground railroad was in her mind a pathway to hope.\u00a0 However, Harriet Tubman was also referred to as Black Moses<\/em>because she was fueled by another pathway to hope. While enslaved, she embraced and placed her hope in Jesus Christ, the ultimate pathway to hope.
\nIn Hebrews chapter ten, the writer gives a call to steadfast hope.\u00a0 This encouragement to steadfast hope encompasses an invitation to enter the sanctuary or that sacred space known as the presence of God.\u00a0 It is by the blood of Jesus that we gain access and are challenged to hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering.\u00a0 We are reminded to keep near the presence of God and the company of other believers and not be drawn away by fear, doubt, and discouragement.\u00a0 Even though the promise may seem delayed, keep pressing on with our hope anchored in Jesus Christ.
\nA school system in a large city had a program to help children keep up with their schoolwork during extended stays in the hospital.\u00a0 One day a teacher who was assigned to the program received a routine call asking her to visit a particular child.\u00a0 She took the child\u2019s name and room number and talked briefly with the child\u2019s regular teacher.\u00a0 \u201cWe\u2019re studying nouns and adverbs in the class now,\u201d the teacher said, \u201cand I\u2019d be grateful if you could help him understand them, so he doesn\u2019t fall too far behind.\u201d
\nThe hospital program teacher went to see the boy that afternoon, but no one had mentioned to her the boy had been badly burned and was in great pain.\u00a0 Upset at the sight of the boy, she stammered as she told him, \u201cI\u2019ve been sent by your school to help you with nouns and adverbs.\u201d When she left, she felt she had not accomplished much.
\nBut the next day, a nurse asked her, \u201cWhat did you do to that boy?\u201d The teacher felt she must have done something wrong and began to apologize.\u00a0 \u201cNo, no,\u201d said the nurse. \u201cYou don\u2019t know what I mean. We have been worried about that little boy, but ever since yesterday his whole attitude has changed.\u00a0 He is fighting back and responding to treatment. It\u2019s as though he has decided to live.\u201d
\nTwo weeks later the boy explained that he had completely given up hope until the teacher arrived.\u00a0 Everything changed when he came to a simple realization.\u00a0 He expressed it this way: \u201cThey wouldn\u2019t send a teacher to work on nouns and adverbs with a dying boy, would they?\u201d
\nWe all need hope, and even more so when facing challenges and obstacles.\u00a0 You have a friend who will stick with you through your struggles while simultaneously showing you a better future.\u00a0 His name is Jesus Christ. You do not have to travel the pathway alone!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
