{"id":19379,"date":"2021-05-06T18:07:36","date_gmt":"2021-05-06T18:07:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/theoklahomaeagle.net\/?p=19379"},"modified":"2021-05-06T18:07:36","modified_gmt":"2021-05-06T18:07:36","slug":"new-amazon-site-being-built-in-north-tulsa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.willoughbyavenue.com\/eagle\/2021\/05\/06\/new-amazon-site-being-built-in-north-tulsa\/","title":{"rendered":"New Amazon Site Being Built In North Tulsa"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/ktul.com\/news\/local\/new-amazon-site?fbclid=IwAR3FOgkxVdmH1AOVG4Ze2OJIqCK_NVlVj1GBrRDIOuKaq_kk1au9ArVJHoA\">www.ktul.com<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/ktul.com\/news\/local\/new-amazon-site?fbclid=IwAR3FOgkxVdmH1AOVG4Ze2OJIqCK_NVlVj1GBrRDIOuKaq_kk1au9ArVJHoA\">By Megan Butler<\/a><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"https:\/\/www.cityoftulsa.org\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cityoftulsa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">City of Tulsa<\/a><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>has announced Thursday morning that a new<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amazon<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/a>operations facility is being built near the Tulsa International Airport.\n<\/div>\n<div>\nThe 270,000-square-foot sortation center is located at North Mingo between 36th Street North and Apache Boulevard.\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\u201cWith another planned facility in Tulsa, Amazon continues to show they want to do business here and extend more employment opportunities to Tulsans,\u201d Mayor G.T. Bynum said. \u201cThis investment accelerates development around one of our strongest job centers, and speaks volumes to the kind of city and workforce we have.\u201d\n<\/div>\n<div>\nThe center is expected to be completed in late 2021 and will create hundreds of new full-time and part-time jobs with pay starting on the first day of employment.\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\u201cThis is an exciting day and I look forward to seeing what opportunities they will bring to the neighborhood,\u201d District 3 City Councilor Crista Patrick said. \u201cOver the past several years, it\u2019s been great to see employers like Amazon and Greenheck plant their roots in this part of Tulsa to create new jobs in our district.\u201d\n<\/div>\n<div>\nThis is the third Amazon installment in Tulsa, including the<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"https:\/\/ktul.com\/news\/local\/tulsa-amazon-fulfillment-center-up-and-running-more-workers-to-be-hired\" href=\"https:\/\/ktul.com\/news\/local\/tulsa-amazon-fulfillment-center-up-and-running-more-workers-to-be-hired\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nearly 2.5-million-square-foot fulfillment center in August 2020<\/a><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>and the recent announcement that the city was<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"https:\/\/ktul.com\/news\/local\/amazon-electric-delivery\" href=\"https:\/\/ktul.com\/news\/local\/amazon-electric-delivery\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chosen to test its electric delivery vehicles<\/a>.\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\u201cWe are proud to be able to continue our growth in Tulsa and provide hundreds of job opportunities for the local community,\u201d said Jessica Breaux, manager of economic development at Amazon. \u201cWe\u2019re grateful for the strong partnerships we\u2019ve made with state and local officials and we look forward to our future in this great city.\u201d<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div>\nThe center will be the transit portion of Amazon&#8217;s operations, serving as the middle ground between fulfillment centers and last mile delivery stations.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\u201cWe are delighted that Amazon continues to build out their footprint in Tulsa and on Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust land,\u201d said Joe Robson, chair of the<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"https:\/\/www.tulsaairports.com\/about-us\/board-meetings-agendas\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tulsaairports.com\/about-us\/board-meetings-agendas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust<\/a>. \u201cThis initiative capitalizes on the use of available land that is adjacent to the airport as well as Highway 169, making it extremely attractive to companies looking to expand near Tulsa\u2019s largest industrial and transportation corridor.\u201d\n<\/div>\n<div>\nThe facility will sit on about 40 acres of land on airport property.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n&#8220;Property development is one of the airport\u2019s key initiatives, and we are thrilled to have Amazon continue their investment here in Tulsa and on airport land,\u201d said Alexis Higgins, CEO of Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust. \u201cHaving access to land near the airport as a transportation hub is an incredibly powerful tool for companies as they expand, and we look forward to continuing to support industrial development.\u201d\n<\/div>\n<div>\nCity officials said TAIT will enter into a long-term land lease and<a title=\"https:\/\/www.tulsaairports.com\/about-us\/board-meetings-agendas\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tulsaairports.com\/about-us\/board-meetings-agendas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Tulsa International Airport Development Trust<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/a>will provide financing incentives through its<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"https:\/\/www.tulsadevelopmentauthority.org\/tif-activity\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tulsadevelopmentauthority.org\/tif-activity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tax Increment Finance<\/a>.\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\u201cAmazon has been a tremendous partner since first coming here, and we&#8217;re thrilled the company is expanding its footprint in northeast Oklahoma,\u201d said Mike Neal, president and CEO of the Tulsa Regional Chamber. \u201cRecruiting first-class companies such as Amazon yields continued growth and has long-term positive effects on the region.
