Gilliam A True BTW Hornet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Oklahoma Eagle Newswire<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nMichael DeWayne Gilliam was born July 31, 1959, at Moton Memorial Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Melvin Gilliam Jr. and Marguerite Raye Gilliam.<br \/>\nMichael graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, class of 1977, where he lettered in football and basketball. He was a member of the Booker T. Washington state championship basketball team in 1977. Michael was an exceptional athlete who participated in baseball and track in his younger years.<br \/>\nAlthough Michael did not have a church home, he grew up in St. Andrews Baptist Church and attended World Won For Christ in his adult years.<br \/>\nMichael worked for Fourth National Bank in the lock box department for several years before going to work for American Airlines in the aircraft maintenance department.<br \/>\nMichael fathered one child: Michael Andrew Gilliam, who lives in Kansas City, Missouri.<br \/>\nMichael D. Gilliam&#8217;s favorite thing to do in life was coach and mentor young athletes. Michael coached for several years at a variety of schools in the community; from Carver to Gilcrease, boys and girls. His passion was coaching the young ladies. His coaching style was hard, but fair and the ladies loved his coaching style.<br \/>\nOn March 24th, 2021, our Lord and Savior called Michael Gilliam from labor to rest. Preceding him in death, is his mother, Marguerite Gilliam, his father, Melvin Gilliam Jr., grandparents, Nathaniel and Olean Dean, and nephew, Andre Clayton.<br \/>\nHe leaves to mourn: his son, Michael Andrew Gilliam and siblings: Ronald, Melrita, Kevin &#8220;Bucky&#8221; (Aretha), Melvin (Edwinia).
